Research Group for Nuclear Transmutation System (NTS) is devloping a transmutation system of Minor Actinides (MAs) and Long-Lived Fission Products (LLFPs) contained within High-Level Waste (HLW) discharged from nuclear power plants.

Reactor Physics Experiment

To improve the reliability of neutronics design such as the next generation nuclear reactors and nuclear fuel cycle facilities, NTS provides the following R&D and supports.

  • Reactor physics experiments using critical assemblies.
  • Utilization of experimental database.

Transmutation Experimental Facility Project

As a part of J-PARC Project, NTS is involved in planning for a project of Transmutation Experiemntal Facility (TEF) to conduct fundamental research activities on transmutation technology mainly by Accelerator-Driven Systems (ADSs).
