Research Group for High Temperature Science on Fuel MaterialsM.Takano


Safe and steady management of the radioactive wastes is one of the most important tasks for sustainable progress in nuclear energy. Partitioning and transmutation of long-lived actinides (so called "minor actinides") included in spent nuclear fuels is a key technology for reduction in mass and radioactivity of the wastes. We are studying on nuclear fuels for transmutation in the aspect of fabrication technologies, material properties, and irradiation behavior. Further, our research activities cover wide range of issues concerning high temperature science on fuel materials, represented by chracteristics of "fuel debris" for decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
