Dose evaluation for atomic bomb survivors

The results of epidemiological studies on the health effects of atomic bomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki are used as the most important basic data when the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) formulates recommendations on radiation protection. In this epidemiological study, detailed organ dose information tailored to the situation at the time of the bombing is essential. The Radiation Effects Research Foundation has been developing and improving the atomic bomb survivor dose estimation method based on the latest technology of each era for decades through cooperation with research institutes in Japan and the United State.
Among them, we progress the analysis of organ dose using the latest numerical technology using PHITS.
