Dose evaluation considering the physical characteristics of Japanese

The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) prepares and publishes reference human models (phantoms) for dose evaluation in radiation protection by referring standard coca-soid physical characteristics. On the other hand, in radiodiagnosis and treatment in medical treatment, it is important to take account for physical constitution to estimate radiation dose for some situations (e.g., in epidemiological investigations on radiation effects) in which a more specific retrospective dose assessment is required.
Therefore, we are developing a Japanese human body model (phantom) in order to contribute to research and surveys that use the exposure dose as an index in consideration of the physique characteristics of the Japanese.
