Development Group for Nuclear Engineering TechnologyKITATSUJI Yoshihiro

This group promotes chemical research at the Nuclear Science and Engineering Research Center from a technical perspective. We have techniques for safe handling of plutonium (Pu) and high-dose radioactive samples in hot cells and gloveboxes. Using these technologies, we will develop a separation process using new extractants to separate Pu, minor actinides (MA), and fission products from spent fuel. Based on the Group's technologies for separation and analysis of radionuclides, we will also work on upgrading fundamental technologies that support the use of nuclear energy, such as separation and purification of actinium (Ac)-225, which is being studied as a medical RI, and analysis of radionuclides in 1F waste.
