Effect of Partitioning and Transmutation (P&T)
Figure 1 shows a calculation result for the effect of partitioning and transmutation (P&T) technology. In this calculation, it was assumed that strontium and cesium, which were euthermic fission products and affected to the size of the repository site area, were partitioned and disposed after the cooling (about 100 years). It is found that there is a possibility to reduce the emplacement area (Non-P&T glass) significantly, by introducing the P&T technology (Calcined Cs-Sr + Metals & rare earths glass).
